"Can you hear me?" SCAM - Hang up!

Forums:

Police are warning about a phone scam that has hit residents across the country by tricking them into saying “yes.”

The “can you hear me?” scam uses the question common in phone conversations to get people to agree to charges on their credit and debit cards.

It often arrives as a robocall from someone purporting to be a cruise line or home security agency and then records the person being called as soon as they say “yes,” “sure” or “ok,” according to a report from the Better Business Bureau.

Scammers can then use your recorded voice to pretend that you are confirming a desire to buy something, either through the phone company itself or another company.

Rand Paul Unveils an ObamaCare Replacement Bill!

Forums:

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) unveiled an ObamaCare replacement bill Wednesday as part of his effort to urge the GOP to speed up work on an alternative to the healthcare law.

Paul has been pushing his colleagues to have a replacement plan ready to pass simultaneously with repeal of ObamaCare, a demand that has recently been gaining support inside the party. His office noted that President Trump and Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) have also reacted favorably to that idea.

"There is no excuse for waiting to craft an alternative until after we repeal Obamacare, and the Obamacare Replacement Act charts a new path forward that will insure the most people possible at the lowest price," Paul said in a statement.

Comey Stays on as FBI Director?

Forums:

Trump Is Keeping FBI Director Comey

The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, told his top agents from around the country that he had been asked by President Trump to stay on the job running the federal government’s top law enforcement agency, The New York Times reports, according to people familiar with the matter.

The political fallout from this decision will make the news cycle buzz today, since Hillary Clinton, the mainstream media, and many Democrats blame Mr. Comey for her defeat, and it is not clear whether she would have kept him on had she won.

We await confirmation - or denial - from The White House. Representatives for the F.B.I. and White House declined to comment.

Rand Paul: Why I voted against the new CIA director

Forums:

I voted against the new CIA Director because I worry that his desire for security will trump his defense of liberty.

Only begrudgingly are the American people being told about the scope of the massive intelligence apparatus that has steadily grown in secret.

Yet when oversight of the intelligence community is most needed, Congress has demonstrated an insufficient appetite for curbing the worst excesses of our country’s domestic surveillance.

The new CIA Director described a congressional report on the CIA’s past use of torture as “a narcissistic self-cleansing.” He went on to say that those senators who voted to release the torture oversight report were “quintessentially at odds with [their] duty to [their] country.”

I couldn’t disagree more.

Trump's Inaugural Address Was Like No Other in History

Forums:

Donald Trump's inaugural address is going to go down in history as one of the great ones.

He is not the polished speaker that John Kennedy was. He does not have the hearts of the people in the way that Franklin Roosevelt did in the midst of the Great Depression. He is not the rhetorical master that Abraham Lincoln was. But more than any President I have ever heard or read at an inaugural, he laid out his agenda, showed how that agenda is a fundamental break from the political past, and promised his supporters that he would not betray them. The implication is obvious: previous Presidents have all betrayed them. And they have. Four of them were standing behind him when he said it. This was a breach of etiquette. I loved it.

No matter what happens in terms of the details of his administration, and no matter what happens to the economy as a result of central bank profligacy, Donald Trump delivered an inaugural address that is going to go down in history. His enemies will try to bury him in his own words. But that plays into his hands. They will have to use his own words to bury him. It's Catch-22 for the establishment.

Davos Elites Struggle for Answers as Trump Era Dawns

Forums:

The global economy is in better shape than it's been in years. Stock markets are booming, oil prices are on the rise again and the risks of a rapid economic slowdown in China, a major source of concern a year ago, have eased.

And yet, as political leaders, CEOs and top bankers make their annual trek up the Swiss Alps to the World Economic Forum in Davos, the mood is anything but celebratory.

Beneath the veneer of optimism over the economic outlook lurks acute anxiety about an increasingly toxic political climate and a deep sense of uncertainty surrounding the U.S. presidency of Donald Trump, who will be inaugurated on the final day of the forum.

The Mysterious FBI Sunday Document Dump #5 and The “Missing” Clinton Seagate Hard Drive…

As many of you are aware the FBI mysteriously dumped 300 pages of investigative material in an unusual Sunday evening document dump.

The timing and content of the FBI release are curious and a few people are attempting to understand what’s going on.

It has taken us a full day to look over the #5 release and scour it for information. There’s some rather interesting findings.

What follows below may possibly indicate a motive, and might also outline an internal effort within the FBI to push forward: a.) action by President Obama on behalf of Hillary Clinton, vis-a-vis a pardon; or, b.) action by the incoming administration to ensure criminal charges.

Pat Buchanan: Israel First or America First

“President-elect Trump, thank you for your warm friendship and your clear-cut support of Israel,” gushed Bibi Netanyahu, after he berated John Kerry in a fashion that would once have resulted in a rupture of diplomatic relations.

Netanyahu accused Kerry of “colluding” in and “orchestrating” an anti-Israel, stab-in-the-back resolution in the Security Council, then lying about it. He offered to provide evidence of Kerry’s complicity and mendacity to President Trump.

Bibi then called in the U.S. ambassador and read him the riot act for 40 minutes. Israel’s ambassador to the U.S. Ron Dermer charged that not only did the U.S. not “stand up to and oppose the gang-up” at the U.N., “the United States was actually behind that gang-up.”

Query: Why is Dermer not on a plane back to Tel Aviv?

While Kerry has been denounced for abstaining on the U.N. resolution calling Israeli settlements on the West Bank and in East Jerusalem illegal and an impediment to peace, this has been U.S. policy for years.

Bombshell: Court Rules Trump ‘Required By Law’ To Pursue Clinton

Forums:

A federal appeals court has ruled that Donald Trump’s U.S. attorney general, which will be Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., will be required by law to intervene in the case of Hillary Clinton’s use of an unsecured, private computer server in her home for classified information.  http://yournewswire.com/court-trump-required-pursue-clinton/

The decision from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia states clearly that the law requires it, rejecting the Obama State Department’s excuses for failing to ask the attorney general, as the law requires, to pursue the recovery of the Clinton emails.
